I'm starting to get a little hysterical about the next nine days. We'll be moving into the house completely in nine days and there is still so much to do. Tonight there's dinner, tomorrow work and school (and a midterm), then Laura in the afternoon, and then packing for Houston Saturday, Sunday, and part of Monday, then work Tuesday and Wednesday and then installation of services on Thursday and then work on Friday and then it's here. I can barely keep it all straight. I just close my eyes at night when I'm trying to fall asleep and think about how nice it will be to live in a house again. No shared walls, no loud upstairs neighbors constantly moving their furniture around, no doormat theives, a yard for the dog! I keep packing in all of my spare time, hoping I can get everything done. I packed all of my shoes, save the pair I am wearing, last night, along with my purses and most of my knitting paraphernalia. The knitting stuff was the scariest to pack... I left a sock out to work on, and hopefully that should tide me over. I really don't have money right now if I run out of things to knit.

Silly me, like I have time to knit!...

I am 2/3 way done with a lot of things right now, so I figured I would take a break from them to write.

I have a government midterm tomorrow, and I feel pretty confident about the material. It's actually almost review so far, from macroeconomics in high school. Well, except I don't have to draw all of those little graphs and charts. (phew) I finished the reading I was supposed to do in Douglas A. Irwin's "Free Trade Under Fire" (which I had nicknamed "Insomnia Under Fire", until things picked up in the book). I was thinking about this, and while he does make a really good case for free trade, it just seems silly to buy into it without any real opposition to his ideas. It's like reading Marx and thinking, "yeah, communism could really work", but in reality, you know it never would. It's very easy to get surrounded and brainwashed by the ideas of something without considering the other sides at all.

I am working on the foot of a pair of jaywalkers right now. I've been afraid to mention this project, because it seems like every sock project that I mention gets destroyed by Topper pretty much instantly. I finished my project for my secret pal, and I am mailing off her package tomorrow. Once she gets the package and knows who I am, I will post a picture to show off the scarflet I made her. It's sooo soft though, it's hard to let go! At least things are finally starting to get sunnier and warmer around here. If we have another cold blast, I'm about ready to fall asleep until spring is really here.

I might not write too much after this post this week, because after my exam monday, I have a 2-page topic proposal due for my 1970's class on Wednesday, an (easy) midterm in social stats on Friday, and a midterm in Psychology on Friday as well. Eeesh. I can't wait for this week to be over, so all of this stress is gone, and so we are another week closer to getting out of this apartment and into our house.

After much googling and poking around, I found out who my secret pal is! She gave me two sets of hints in recent emails, and I found someone who matched them... and what do you know? My secret pal is Emily, of Vegan Knitting

oh man

Things are starting to really pick up in every facet of my life right now.

School is still going well, but I have a lot of government reading to do this weekend. I'm not looking forward to it, and I'm trying to work it down and break it up over this week. I just finished most of my statistics homework, and I can do the rest over the next few days when I'm tired of dry government reading. I can't imagine being a government major. I'd die of boredom.

I decided I am done with the law firm at the end of this semester, and that is both exciting and nerve wracking. Hopefully, a situation may materialize in which I would be very very happy. I know what this situation would be, I just don't want to jinx it. I've had so much good luck lately, especially with the house, that I'm so afraid it will run out.

Knitting is going a little better. I am about 2/3 done with the project I am making for my secret pal. When I'm done, I'll post a picture, and when she gets the package, I'll let everyone know who she is. I feel bad it has taken me this long to send her second package. I meant to do three, but things got hectic, and now it'll just be a big second package.

Michael's 21st birthday is Wednesday (yes, Valentine's day), and we're celebrating by going to dinner and then the Parlor to play pool. Hopefully a lot of his friends will come to wish him a happy birthday.

good things

Two things are making me not-frustrated and happy right now:

1. My new phone.
Thank you, LG. Thank you.

2. I broke 150!! My weight is down to 149, which is a huge symbolic step to me. 11 pounds down, 14 to go.
